What stage are you in your life plan now?
Do you know how much you are worth or the kind of money you will like to have?
Everything in life has a pattern that has to be followed and if the steps are adhered to, things begin to fall in line.
Do you have the kind of education you desire?
What about your career or business life? Can you take care of your family with the income you earn presently?
Have you lost your job or your situation is that old age and retirement have caught up with you?
In life, there are decisions that we make that affect us negatively and it may take a miracle to deliver us from such errors.
One such error is sailing through life just like that without a plan or goals and the vision
of what you want to achieve and allowing others to make resolutions for you.
If you think you are in this boat, you are not alone on this journey.
Many people especially in the developing world live for the moment as if there will be no tomorrow.
This also includes yours truly until I joined the online world and my mindset began to change.
I spent 5 years obtaining a B.Sc. in International Studies with the hope and belief of becoming a diplomat but for more than 23 years, I have been in a different field.
So sometimes what you set out to become in life may not be what you become, but the truth is that if you have your goals, and you set your mind on them and don’t lose focus; the probability of you derailing is slim.
Back to the main issue which is, what is your life plan?
The fact that you are reading this content or you are a member of my Facebook group,
You have a head start among your peers.
What plans do you have to go through life without allowing circumstances to take control?
What thoughts go through your mind when you see old men employed as security guards by privately run companies or old women in their 60’s by the roadside frying akara (bean cake) or roasting corn in the hot sun?
Your thinking might include:
– They wasted their youthful years.
– They have no children or relations to take care of them
– They did not invest their money well.
– They did not set goals for themselves and follow through with a plan.
All or some of your observations might be correct. It might even be that none is true but, they’ve found themselves in such situations due to a disaster like fire or flood or even a pandemic and their lives changed for the worst.
It could even be a government policy that affected them or the company they once worked for went bankrupt which triggered such tragedy for them.
The important thing is to plan your life and have your set of goals with a workable plan.
So, what are your life goals and the kind of lifestyle you desire?
How do you plan to achieve them within a reasonable time frame?
Have you figured out how you want to live your life God helping you?
Do You Have A Ready Plan For Your Life?
“A plan is a written down proposal for your future and what you need to do in order to achieve the goals at your own pace” – Binta Tiri.
Whatever your plans are, put them in writing and once in a while go over them and the steps you need to take achieve them.
Doing this will propel you to accomplishing them at a faster rate.
Set dates for the accomplishment of your plans. This is to keep you prepared in the event of unforeseen circumstances that will require you to make hasty decisions.
Here Are 5 Areas To Consider In Planning For Your Life:
Education and career: How far do you intend to go in pursuit of education?
What schools do you plan to attend and in which location?
Do you have an internship in mind? Note that this is worthy of consideration as it will be an added advantage in the future.
If you have passed these stages then move to the next one.
What career path do you want to tread? Be wise to choose a modern career path that is in line with your passion and abilities or gifts and which will guarantee you a good income.
Do the same if you choose to have a business. That traditional jobs are crumbling is a fact. We now have specialization in every field.
As you plan don’t forget to write down where you plan to work, where to reside, and how long you plan to be an employee.
Finances: Do you have a plan for your finances or when you get your paycheque you go on a spending spree?
What are your financial goals? What investments do you have now and which ones are you planning to buy or invest in?
Do you have a budget and what about savings? What is your savings plan? Are you the type that waits till its 3 months to the expiration of your rent to start running helter, skelter or you have a system in place that deducts every month towards your rent or mortgage to buy a house?
Life moves in stages, and if you miss one stage you find out that you will always be running late on the others. Unless you make a serious effort with intentional decisions, coming out of such mistakes will be difficult.
Insurance: In this part of the world, we are yet to understand the full importance of taking an insurance cover. Do you have insurance covers for your life, health, properties, or businesses?
Insurance is financial protection against unforeseen losses that a person or business may suffer in the future. It is wise to have insurance covering important areas of your life.
For example, if your insured car is stolen, you are sure to have some compensation to buy another one. The same thing goes with theft of equipment or losing your house to a fire
So have a plan B in case of such occurrences to cushion financial Losses.
Marriage or relationship: What are your plans with regard to marriage? Do you want to get married or stay single?
Plan on who you intend to marry, when, where to settle, when to have children, that is if you plan to, whether you will sponsor their education to tertiary level or not.
Whatever your decisions are, be with someone with whom you share the same goals and visions be it in your faith or otherwise; someone with whom you will age and retire rich.
Retirement Plan: When do you plan to retire and at what age?
Plan to retire from the first day you start earning income whether through your job or your business.
Do you have a pension plan and will the plan sustain you in old age?
When you plan your life and set your goals along the 5 areas listed above, your life will take a good course.
Whether you follow a career path or become a business tycoon, you must pay attention to your finances savings and investments. Protecting your hard earned money against all kinds of risk is a must.
When you do that, your family will be secured and you also will have a comfortable retirement
